Frequently Asked Questions

  • WHAT CAN I EXPECT WITH A DIGITAL ORGANIZING SESSION?
Photos will be consolidated from multiple sources, as we work remotely on your computer (phones, computer libraries, external hard drives, phones, various folders, disk, thumb drives and more). We are able to serve customers worldwide. Photos will be sorted and organized into a simple folder structure by year and month, duplicate photos will be removed. Photos will be backed up to your preferred cloud service provider, plus at least two other secure locations. We will talk you through the pros and cons of various providers to help you find the best storage options for your lifestyle. We will teach you how to easily maintain this system, moving forward. Peace of mind is headed your way!
  • WHEN CAN I START?
Appointments are open and filled on a first come, first serve basis. Once full, you will be added to our wait list and will be the first to be served once appointments are opened again. In the meantime, make a list of devises that contain your digital images. If you would like, this is a good time to use our affordable scanning services and get your favorite photos scanned, so both libraries can be joined together.
  • HOW LONG WILL THIS PROJECT TAKE?
Generally 2-3 weeks, some can take longer depending on clients computer availability. We will need you for the one hour initial consultation and the wrap up call at the end. The rest of the time, we will work independently and reach out to you via text or email when we need to be reconnected. If you go out of town, no worries. We can continue when you get back.
  • CAN I STILL WORK ON MY COMPUTER WHILE YOU ARE WORKING?
Yes! We use screen sharing software that is done in batches. Your computer will be running in the background to complete each step. We will ask that you just keep your computer plugged in and opened. You are welcome to watch, but it sure isn’t as exciting as a good book or movie with a snack.
  • HOW SAFE ARE MY PHOTOS DURING THE LIFE EDIT DIGITAL PHOTO ORGANIZING SESSION?
This is a great question. Your original photo files are NEVER at risk. Your digital photos will be safely copied into a working file from your multiple sources (we will leave your original files alone). We will also copy all files and place in an ORIGINAL FILE | DO NOT TOUCH on your EHD for long term safekeeping. If the external hard drive is running out of space in the future, the client could consider getting a larger external hard drive or easily delete the ORIGINAL FILE | DO NOT TOUCH folder as the images are now stored in three secure locations.
  • HOW CONFIDENTIAL IS YOUR SERVICE?
Very. Most of the time, we are just working with files and tiny thumbnails. We do not go into other areas of your computer. If there is anything you wish to lock on your computer, we can walk you through how to do that. We do not share your information with anyone, everything is confidential.
  • EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE TIPS (EHD)
External hard drives last approximately 5 years. The average life of an External Hard Drive (EHD) is 5 years. Label it with name & date and transfer to new one regularly. Use a separate EHD for your digital photo library only. There are two kinds of EHD you can purchase (I like to use both for safekeeping). #1 The ones with spinning motors (break down more often but easier to get info off of them when they do) #2 Solid state (seldom break down, but difficult to get info off of them when they do)
